Matchbox Advent Tree
Today's project comes to us from Kristine. It's an Advent Calendar in the shape of a Christmas tree made from the Matchbox die for the Big Shot. How clever is that?!

Top Note Stencil!

Here is another fabulous idea from Andrea! Here she used the Top Note as a stencil (using a sponge dauber with Not Quite Navy Classic Ink) and then using Shimmer Paint stamped the trees from Lovely As A Tree and finally added the greeting in Night of Navy! This is another one of those 10 minute cards!
Get started on those holiday cards now and you will have them done in plenty of time for the holidays!

This is one of my FAVORITE stamp sets! It is always so versatile. The truck fits perfectly in the Top Note Die for the Big Shot! The truck is stamped on watercolor paper to make this "Watercolor with Markers" technique a breeze! Thanks so much to Sophia for sharing her creation!

A Tisket, A Tasket.....

A mini Pumpkin Basket! These are so adorable (if I do not say so my self). These can be used for Halloween or Thanksgiving. Stamp a little Jack O Latern Face on the front and you are ready to go. I will be using these for Thanksgiving as place settings. I will just simply add a small tag with the person's name! Inside will be filled with small after dinner mints.

Faux Frottage

Choose 2 dye based ink colors, one lighter than the other. Using
glossy card stock, swipe the lighter color ink to cover the
paper. Let air dry or heat with heat tool. Set aside a piece of
plastic wrap, ready to use. Tap the darker ink all over the paper
(be sure it is a juicy pad and not dry). Quickly place the plastic
wrap on top of wet ink and press/smoosh. Pull off and admire!
This was a technique we learned at RETREAT!
The Challenge:
Send me a card you make with this technique by October 31st. I will post all the cards I receive so that we can see them. All cards received will be put into a drawing!
The Prize:
Dasher stamp!

Repeat with as many colors as you desire! Then layer stamp....I used Going Gray Classic Ink and the Gratuitous Graffiti set, then I used Staz On Jet Black to stamp the flower from the Inspired by Nature set. Add a bit of ribbon and mount on Black cardstock! EASY!

Deal of the Week!

Recently, Stampin' Up! started a great thing - DEALS OF THE WEEK -
Who doesn't like a great deal? This week, the specials are 3 punches. Punches are a fabulous way to create wonderful projects, including cards and scrapbook pages. Normally priced at $15.95 each, you can save 25% off each one. Price will be $10.99 for this week.
The My Way punch (shown closest to you) will be $11.99.

Punch tip: To keep all your punches in great condition, you can alternate punching through waxed paper (to keep them sliding through material well) and punching through soda pop aluminum cans (to keep them sharp). Cut the ends off the cans (carefully so as not to cut yourself) and cut down one side to open up the material. Then punch or run the sheet of aluminum though your big shot dies and you’ll have a fun colorful shape to add to your projects as well as keep your cutting tools nice and sharp. The nice thing about the aluminum cut pieces is that once punched they are no longer too sharp to use safely.
Our craft scissors do a terrific job on the cutting down the side.

Punch tip #2: When your new punches arrive take some old copy or junk mail paper and punch several times to make sure you have any machine oil from the manufacturing and storage process out of the punch so you don’t stain your nice Stampin’ Up papers. If for some reason your punch is a bit sticky you can stick it in the freezer for a short time remove and let thaw and this should take care of the problem.

Go to http://www.kreativekoncepts.stampinup.net/ and place your online order not forgetting to check out the Clearance Rack! This Deal of the Week expires Sunday, October 11th at midnight!

Technique Tuesday....Vitalized Vellum

(This is a card I CASED from Pennie McCallum! She is the creator of the "Vitalized Vellum" Technique)
How to: using a half sheet of White Vellum Cardstock at a time, choose two or three colors of Classic Inks, that if they mix together will be fine (like 3 shades of blue). Here I have used classic inks: Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy and Night of Navy. Starting with the lightest shade, wipe the ink pad accross the vellum, covering the vellum entirely! Move on to the second color and the third; using smaller amounts of second color than the first and less of the third color than the second. Continue while the ink is wet (you have plenty of time because the ink dries on the surface of the vellum, it isn't an absorbent cardstock) by stamping a bold image stamp on to the wet vellum and lift off the color. Wipe off the stamp and repeat the stamping and the wiping off of ink on the stamp untill you have the desired effect. (Try using a Wheel!) Set aside to dry for approximately 15 to 20 minutes (this will totally depend on how "juicy" your ink pads are and how much ink you apply). For this winter card I have used:
Stamp set: Snowfall
Cardstock: Not Quite Navy, Bashful Blue, White Vellum
Inks: Classic Pads - Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, Night of Navy, White StazOn (for stamping images - after the background has dried)
Other: Bashful Blue Grosgrain and 1/4" hole punch.
